CDSN Morphs from Brand Name to Separate Division

Churchill Downs is setting up its simulcasting operations as a separate operating unit within the corporation.
The Churchill Downs Simulcast Network (CDSN) will focus on expanding national and international wagering opportunities under the direction of its own executive team. CDSN started as merely the brand name for Churchill Downs' simulcast network, which includes signals from the flagship track in Louisville, Hollywood Park, Arlington Park, Calder Race Course, Ellis Park, and Hoosier Park.
"CDSN is an important strategic initiative and represents a key growth area for the company," said Tom Meeker, president and chief executive officer for Churchill Downs Inc. "Now, the time is right to dedicate additional resources to the CDSN business to further capitalize on opportunities in the simulcast and in-home wagering markets."
Robert Decker will become president of CDSN. He also will continue his duties as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Churchill Downs Inc. Karl Schmitt Jr., who is senior vice president for communications for the company, will become chief operating officer for CDSN. Other new officer will be Patrick Troutman who is CDSN's vice president of sales and operations, and Steve Fugitte will become vice president of new media for CDSN and oversee all data support and Internet initiatives. The changes take effect immediately.
"We believe this is a tremendous opportunity for the company to enhance CDSN's position as a leading exporter of North American pari-mutuel wagering content," Decker said.
