Johannesburg may be bound for Louisville, but he's still eligible for a big race on May 4 in England -- the Sagitta Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) at Newmarket. He is one of 12 of trainer Aidan O'Brien's charges still eligible for the classic race. Also on O'Brien's list are Hawk Wing and Rock of Gibraltar.
Another Derby-bound individual, trainer Saeed bin Suroor, has interests in the Guineas. Suroor, who trains for Godolphin, has six horses eligible for the event, including Naheef, Meshaheer, and Dubai Destination. Another trainer with multiple possibles is Michael Stoute, trainer of King of Happiness and Comfy.
For the filly classic, the May 5 One Thousand Guineas (Eng-I), perennial winner Henry Cecil has Half Glance and Protectoress as contenders in the event. Some other possibles from other barns include Misterah, Alasha, and of course, O'Brien has a barnful of options for this as well, including Quarter Moon and Sophisticat.
