Each race will offer 23 runners plus one entry for the rest of the field. Two pools will be offered each for the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), and the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I). One pool will be offered on the remaining races. The win-only wagers will be offered over four weekends with up to three races available at a time. The minimum wager is $2.

"We think the Breeders' Cup Future Bet will be a very attractive wagering option for fans throughout the second half of the year and heighten the significance of divisional races that are part of the Road to the World Thoroughbred Championships," said D.G. Van Clief, Jr., president of Breeders' Cup and vice chairman of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. "If we can get people thinking about the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships earlier in the year, it will help make a big day that much bigger come Oct. 26 and enhance the event's stature in the broader sports marketplace."

The future bet schedule is as follows:

* July 4-7: Classic, Distaff, and Sprint,
* Aug. 9-11: John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. I), Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. I), and Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. I),
* Aug. 30-Sept. 2: Classic, Distaff, and Sprint,
* Sept. 20-22: Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I)

"We've tried to schedule the pool dates late enough to include European horses in the pools and to allow handicappers to develop informed opinions on the eight races, but early enough so that potentially lucrative prices can still be secured on the horses of their choice," said Ken Kirchner, senior vice president of product development for the NTRA/Breeders' Cup. "And with two separate pools offered on the Classic, Distaff and Sprint, fans will have double the opportunity to scope out their favorites in three of our most popular betting races."

Daily Racing Form will provide full past performance lines in all editions for all days the Future Bet is offered. The Form also will conduct special seminars with DRF handicappers at selected NTRA member racetracks. Equibase will be offering racing fans a chance to track future bet horses through its free Virtual Stable e-mail notification service found at ntra.com and equibase.com. A similar Virtual Stable enhancement established for this year's Triple Crown has attracted almost 10,000 new subscribers since being introduced in mid-March.
