Gary West's Wood Memorial (gr. I) winner Buddha breezed six furlongs over Belmont Park's training track Sunday. The son of Unbridled's Song completed the drill in 1:14 2/5 on a muddy track.
"He looked good," said trainer James Bond. "I haven't made a decision when he'll leave. Tentatively, we're looking at next Monday."
Buddha worked through splits of :25 and :49 1/5, and galloped out seven furlongs in 1:27 2/5.
"He worked good, his coat looked good and all his blood work came back fine," Bond said. "I guess the bounce theory is in the back of my mind, but there's nothing I can do about it. We're going to go to into the race doing what we've always done. He can't read the papers or the figures."
Buddha is undefeated as a 3-year-old, with his lone career loss coming in his racing debut last September when conditioned by Bill Mott. His gritty Wood victory came in his stakes debut.
