Robby Albarado will ride Request For Parole in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), according to the jockey's agent, Lenny Pike.
In his most recent start, Jeri and Sam Knighton's son of Judge T C was third in the Lane's End Spiral Stakes (gr. II), finishing a neck behind the winner when ridden by Pat Day. Brian Peck rode the colt in his two stakes wins this year.
Bred by Robert and Bea Roberts, Request For Parole has won four of 10 starts and has finished second or third on five occasions. Two of those placings came in stakes races won by likely Derby favorite Harlan's Holiday. He is trained by Stephen Margolis.
"The other rider we were considering was Mike Smith, but we felt that by getting Robby he would be able to work the horse before the race and he certainly knows Churchill Downs as good as any of them," said Margolis. "He's at the top of the Churchill Downs standings every meet and having a guy like him is certainly going to help."
