Prince of the Mt. Yearling Tops Louisiana Mixed Sale

A gelded yearling by Prince of the Mt. brought the top price of $20,000 at the Louisiana Breeders Sales Co.'s spring open mixed sale on Sunday (April 14). Brittlin Stables and D R D Stables purchased the gelding from Rachel Denius, agent for Gaynel Moran. The sale topper was produced from the winning Zuppardo's Prince mare Mincy Princess, a half-sister to stakes winners Better Beebetter and Cajun Dust.

The auction was conducted at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, La. In all, 110 horses were sold for a gross of $292,150 and an average price of $2,656. The median price was $1,700. The buy-back rate was 22.5%, with 32 of the 142 horses offered failing to find new homes.
