Medication Group's Next Meeting in Kentucky

Representatives of 15 Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, and Standardbred organizations will meet May 1 at a by-invitation-only meeting to implementation of recommendations on drug-testing, medication, security, and enforcement.

The last time members of the group met face-to-face was in December at the first Racehorse Medication Summit in Tucson, Ariz. They've since met via teleconference.

The May 1 meeting will be held at the Executive Inn in Louisville, Ky. At the first meeting, participants agreed on the need for uniform policies in all racing jurisdictions, creation of a national advisory body to address the development of medication policies and practices, and establishment of a broad-based funding mechanism to support any initiatives.
