Mayakovsky Works Bullet Half-Mile at Churchill

Mayakovsky, Gotham Stakes winner worked Tuesday in preparation for the Derby Trial.
Mayakovsky, winner of the Gotham and fourth in the Santa Anita Derby, breezed four furlongs in :47.20 for trainer Patrick Biancone at Churchill Downs on Tuesday. The Matty G colt, who is Mayakovsky, who is being pointed toward the April 27 Derby Trial at Churchill Downs, had the fastest half-mile time of the day for 44 horses working the distance and galloped out five furlongs in 1:00.

Meanwhile, Easyfromthegitgo, winner of the Lecomte Stakes and runner-up in the Louisiana Derby, breezed four furlongs in :49.20 over at Churchill in preparation for Saturday's Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II).

With regular rider Donnie Meche aboard, the son of Dehere was timed in :25.20 for the first quarter-mile. There was no "gallop out" time available for Easyfromthegitgo, who is being pointed toward the May 18 Preakness Stakes after his Lexington engagement.
