Kip and Suzanne Knelman, who bred Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I) winner Buddha in the name of Farfellow Farms, privately sold the colt's dam, Cahooters, about two weeks prior to the April 13 race to Gaines-Gentry Thoroughbreds and Castleton Lyons. Cahooters, in foal to Mr. Greeley, is at Castleton Lyons near Lexington. She was barren for 2002.
"She was easy to like," said Olin Gentry, who declined to name the price. "We were attracted to Buddha's races in Florida, and she's by Storm Cat."
The Knelmans, who operate as commercial breeders, boarded Cahooters at the Taylor family's Taylor Made Farm near Nicholasville. Buddha (by Unbridled's Song) was foaled at the farm.
Thirteen-year-old Cahooters, who was produced from Puss in Cahoots (by The Axe II), has produced eight named foals, including six winners.
