The Thoroughbred Corp.'s grade I winner Officer, gearing up for a start in Saturday's Lexington Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland, worked a half-mile in an impressive :47 4/5, breezing, over a fast track at Santa Anita Monday. The California-bred son of Bertrando won the Zany Tactics Stakes by a widening six lengths in his last start April 7 and will leave on a plane bound for Kentucky tonight. Trainer Bob Baffert will join him later in the week.
Also on the Monday worktab at Santa Anita was Lusty Latin, who finished a strong third behind Came Home and Easy Grades in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) in his last start. The gray son of El Prado went four furlongs in :49 2/5, handily, and may make his next start in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), should he have the graded earnings earn a spot in the field.
