First crop Puerto Rican-sire Virtua Cop was represented by his first winner when Maria Rachel won a five furlong maiden race by 1 1/2 lengths on Friday at El Comandante.
Maria Rachel is a daughter of Piedra Preciosa, by Hocking Hills, and the first runner by Virtua Cop to make the races. She notched the win in her second career start after finishing third in her debut on April 1. Haras Don Jorge bred Maria Rachel in Puerto Rico.
Virtua Cop was bred in Kentucky by Robert N. and Albert G. Clay. The 8-year-old son of Seeking the Gold was unraced but is a half-brother of three stakes-placed horses.
