Nine More Entered for Epsom Derby; Right Approach May Prep at Sandown
Naheef, a recent winner of a Godolphin private trial race, was among nine horses added to the Vodafone Epsom Derby (Eng-I) at the second entry stage. The connections of the nine horses paid 9,000 pounds to add their charges to the 136 horses entered at the first stage.Aside from Naheef, Godolphin also entered Parasol, bringing the stable's total entries to 19.The other seven entrants are Sir George Turner, Savannah Bay, Coshocton, Cast the Net, Shaanmer, Rapscallion, and Jelani.In other Derby news, Sir Michael Stoute-trained Right Approach may make his 3-year-old debut April 27 at Sandown Park in the cantorindex.com Classic Trial. Jockey Kieren Fallon his high on the colt, who has won one of two races and is currently around 12-1 in British future wagering for the Epsom classic."I have ridden some top-class horses, but Right Approach could be the best I have ever sat on," Fallon said. "From the first moment I rode him, he gave me the feel of something special. I am really looking forward to riding him again. He has the perfect temperament and is a Derby horse, although I certainly wouldn't rule him out of the Guineas picture, either."Stoute also likes the son of Machiavellian, but is more reserved in his judgment. "He is a quality horse, a good athlete, and has shown promise from the time he started working," the conditioner said.Right Approach is owned by the Queen of England and is out of the Shadeed mare Abbey Strand, who also produced Glens Falls Handicap runner-up New Assembly.
