A five- to seven-horse field is expected for Del Mar's Sunday co-feature, the $250,000 Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II). Prime Timber, National Saint, Cliquot, Zanetti, and El Corredor are considered probable. Los Angeles Handicap (gr. III) winner Highland Gold and Literal Prowler are possible entrants.
Prime Timber finished second in the San Diego Handicap (gr. III) in his last start, eight lengths behind Skimming. The Eduardo Inda trainee is winless from three starts this year, including a fourth-place finish in a 7 1/2-furlong allowance race in June won by National Saint. Cliquot finished second in the allowance race.
The Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap is for 3-year-olds and up and is run at a mile on the main track. Last year's renewal was won by Hollycombe.
