'Continental' Longshots Lead to Pick 6 Carryover at Santa Anita

Victories Wednesday by longshots Continental Miss and Continental Stitch helped create a pick six carryover of $114,773 heading into Thursday's card at Santa Anita.Four of the six legs of Wednesday's pick six wager were won by horses returning a double-digit win mutuel, with the highest payouts coming from Continental Miss ($32) and Continental Stitch ($69.20). Both horses were bred in California and sired by Flying Continental.Continental Stitch's victory came in the feature race under apprentice rider Elvis Trujillo. The Juan Silva trainee rallied from next-to-last in the seven-horse field to win the one-mile turf allowance for Cal-breds by a half-length over Honesty Pays, with Nick of Time a nose back in fourth, just ahead of Bonus Pay Day.Racing at Santa Anita Thursday begins at 1 p.m. (PDT) with a pair of two-furlong maiden races for 2-year-olds kicking of the eight-race program.Daylight savings time marks the beginning of twilight racing on Friday's. First post will be 3 p.m. (PDT).
