Medaglia d'Oro, Buddha Work Ahead of Wood Memorial

Edmund Gann's Medaglia d'Oro and Gary West's Buddha were on track for exercise Sunday morning ahead of Saturday's Wood Memorial (gr. I) at Aqueduct. San Felipe (gr. II) winner Medaglia d'Oro went six furlongs at Hollywood Park, and Buddha put in a five-furlong work at Payson Park.

Medaglia d'Oro completed his workout in 1:12 2/5 after splits of :23 2/5, :35 2/5, and :47 4/5.

"He went good and looked good," trainer Bobby Frankel said. "We're still on schedule with him."

The son of El Prado will ship to New York Wednesday. The Wood will mark his fourth career race, with each race over a different track.

"He's run well at three different tracks," Frankel said. "He won't have any trouble shipping."

Buddha, like Medaglia d'Oro, has raced three times and earned two wins. The James Bond-trained son of Unbridled's Song worked five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 Sunday morning.

"He went easy," trainer James Bond said. "He'll just gallop up to the race."

Koji Maeda's Sunday Break galloped at Aqueduct Sunday morning and will have a workout either Monday or Tuesday, according to trainer Neil Drysdale.

"He's a very tractable horse and he's got a great attitude," Drysdale said of the Japanese-bred son of Forty Niner. "With improving horses, it's a big help to have as good an attitude as he does."

After finishing second and third in his first two career races, Sunday Break has earned three straight victories.
