Hennessy Will Stand in Japan in 2001

Coolmore stallion Hennessy, who ranks among the leaders on the first-crop sire list by progeny earnings, will be headed to East Stud in Japan for the 2001 Northern Hemisphere season following his Southern Hemisphere duties at Coolmore Australia this fall.

The deal to stand Hennessy on a one-year lease arrangement is similar to the one Coolmore worked out with East Stud to stand Spinning World for the 2000 breeding season. Spinning World will be headed back to Coolmore satellite Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky., for the 2001 season once he completes the Southern Hemisphere season at Coolmore Australia.

Seven-year-old Hennessy (Storm Cat—Island Kitty, by Hawaii) was a grade I winner and $580,400-earner. He was the fifth-leading sire by yearling average at Saratoga, with $446,667.
