Atlantic City Will Have One-Day Turf Only Live Meet

Atlantic City Racecourse, which was granted one day of live racing by the state racing commission in late January, will run seven races all on the turf on Friday, May 10, with the day's purses totaling $110,000.
The seven-race lineup was released Monday by Greenwood Racing, which purchased the circa-1946 oval from the Atlantic City Racing Association last year.
Atlantic City's seven races are comprised of a maiden special weight event; two maiden "starter allowance" races "for maidens which have started for $15,000 or less since Sept. 1, 2001; and three regular starter allowance events, one for sprinters and two going a mile and a sixteenth.
Entries for AyCee's one day will be drawn on May 6, and the races will be drawn with "no also-eligibles."
Nine days of racing under the auspices of the Atlantic City Racing Association will be run at Monmouth Park beginning on May 11, with accrued purse monies from simulcasting at the McKee Cit
