Danthebluegrassman zipped five furlongs in :58.6 at Santa Anita Park on Monday as he posted the fastest time of the day among the 49 horses working at that distance. His workout was the highlight of a busy workday Monday for 3-year-olds at tracks across the country.

Also working five-eighths of a mile at the California oval were Captain Squire, whose time of :59.4 was sixth fastest of the morning, and Easy Grades, who had the 10th fastest time of :59.6.

At Keeneland, Changeintheweather's time of 1:00.4 for five furlongs was the fastest of the day for 20 horses working that distance, with High Star going the same route at the Lexington, Ky. track in 1:04.6. Also at Keeneland, Straight Gin worked five furlongs in 1:03.6. Over at Churchill Downs, Gold Dollar's :59.6 for five-eighths of a mile topped that workout tab for the 29 horses working that distance. And at Payson Park in Florida, Buddha was timed in 1:15.6 for six furlongs.
