California-bred Grey Memo romped to a 3 1/2-length win in the $1 million Godolphin Mile (UAE-II) Saturday night at Nad Al Sheba, completing the distance in 1:36.69 on a fast track and under Gary Stevens.
Skoozi finished second, a head-length in front of Curule. Peeping Tom finished sixth, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of China Visit, with Blade Prospector eighth in the 16-horse field.
Warren Stute-trained Grey Memo (Memo -- B. Mozelle, by Snow Chief) last won in June last year, when he eked out a nose-length victory over National Saint in the restricted Ack Ack Stakes at Hollywood Park. On Saturday night in Dubai, he earned his second career grade or group win. As a juvenile, the 5-year-old gray won the Hollywood Prevue Stakes (gr. III). The Godolphin Mile win marks his seventh in 34 career starts. He is owned by R. Manzani, R. Samo, and Ridgeley Farm and was bred by Ridgeley Farm. (Chart,
