The Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2002 spring sale of 2-year-olds in training will be smaller this year, with 1,210 horses catalogued compared to more than 1,300 a year ago. The sale will be conducted April 22-25 in Central Florida. Under tack shows will be held April 17-April 20.

In 2001, sale records were established for gross revenue and average price. The auction's record for the highest-priced horse also was equaled when a Grindstone filly sold for $550,000. In all, 685 horses were sold for a gross of $18,058,600 and an average of $26,363. The median was $15,000, and the buy-back rate was 33.4%.
