Ladies Din, Danehill Sibling Highlight Santa Anita Allowance

Ladies Din isn't making the trip to Dubai this year. Instead, the 7-year-old multiple stakes winning gelding goes to post in Santa Anita's $70,000 allowance feature on Friday, just hours before the Dubai World Cup card begins Saturday. The Julio Canani trainee made his most recent start on March 24 last year in the Dubai Duty Free (UAE-II), finishing 11th.

The allowance race features a contentious field of nine, with all but one having made their most recent start in stakes company. That horse, lightly raced 6-year-old Climate, comes into the one-mile turf test on a two-race winning streak and three wins in five career starts on grass.

Also entered is Shibboleth (Danzig--Razyana, by His Majesty), a full brother of Danehill, Harpia, and Eagle Eyed who last raced in the group I Darley July Cup at Newmarket last July. He finished fifth in that six-furlong race won by Mozart while trained by Henry Cecil. Bobby Frankel now trains the 5-year-old bay for Juddmonte Farms. Prior to the July Cup, Shibboleth won the seven-furlong Hitchins Criterion Stakes (Eng-III) in late June.

As for the others, Night Patrol and Thady Quill drop in from the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Handicap (gr. IIT); Big Board last finished fifth in the Tanforan Handicap (gr. IIIT) won by subsequent Kilroe Mile winner Decarchy; Sheik Maktoum Al Maktoum's Neil Drysdale trainee Touch of the Blues started last in the Rebs Policy; and I've Decided and Casino King return from 2001 stakes engagements to make their first starts of the year.
