Doug Burge, president of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, is hosting the NTRA Legislative Briefing.

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association will host its next legislative briefing open to industry stakeholders and other interested parties Aug. 21 in the Del Mar Turf Club director's room.

It will start immediately following the day's last race (approximately 5:45 p.m. PDT).

The event is hosted by Doug Burge, president of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, as well as George Bolton and John Harris, prominent Thoroughbred owners, breeders, and supporters of Horse PAC, the NTRA's federal political action committee.

NTRA president and CEO Alex Waldrop and Horse PAC president Peggy Hendershot will address the latest news from Washington, D.C., on federal legislation that could impact horse racing.

Topics will include: prospects and perils for expired investment incentives and other tax measures that affect the industry, especially horse owners, breeders and horseplayers; efforts to obtain clarifications to federal reporting and withholding regulations; and the status of immigration reform.

A question-and-answer session will follow. The event is free but space is limited and reservations are encouraged. Please RSVP to Barbara Fossum at bfossum@ntra.com.
