Jockey Stewart Elliott suffered a fractured rib when kicked by a horse Aug. 11 in the Del Mar stable area and is expected to be out for up to two weeks. The tentative return target is Aug. 24, Pacific Classic day.

"We had worked some horses and were doing more rounds walking between barns when a horse on a hot walker (machine) kicked out and caught him ," agent Nelson Arroyo said.

The 49-year-old native of Toronto is in his first season at Del Mar. The rider of 2004 dual classic winner Smarty Jones   has three wins, eight seconds and two thirds from 35 mounts with purse earnings of $343,640. He won the Best Pal Stakes (gr. II) aboard Skyway for trainer Mark Casse.
