Keith and Ginger Myers have announced Coteau Grove Farms plans to expand its breeding operation and reduce its racing stable.

Through its agent Select Sales, Coteau Grove Farms has consigned 21 Louisiana-bred yearlings and horses in training to the Equine Sales Company of Louisiana consignor select yearling sale Sept. 3 in Opelousas, La., and the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana yearling sale Sept. 23 in West Monroe, La.

The Sunset, La., farm was founded in 2008 by the Myers with the objective of becoming a top quality breeder of Louisiana-bred Thoroughbred racehorses to compete in Louisiana and nationally. They purchased their first eight broodmares in November 2008 and began racing in February 2009.

"From the outset, our business plan was to build our brand through racing while continuously evaluating, upgrading, and growing a high quality broodmare band," Keith Myers said.

Myers said the racing stable has enjoyed success, especially since 2011.

"Since 2011, under the leadership of Pat Devereux Jr., we have had 318 starts with 82 firsts, 55 seconds, and 36 thirds, with purse earnings of more than $3 million dollars and average earnings per start of $9,575," said Myers.

"Perhaps most impressive is the fact that 101 of these 318 starts were stakes races with 17 stakes wins, 30 seconds, and 11 third-place finishes, coming from 20 different stakes starters."
