Hip 58, by Medaglia d'Oro, sold for $675,000 during the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.

John Ferguson bought Hip 58, a dark bay/brown colt by Medaglia d'Oro   for $675,000. The colt is the mid-session sale-topper during opening night at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale Aug. 4.

Offered by Gainesway as agent, the colt is out of the stakes winner Passion du Coeur (by Distorted Humor  ). The dam is a full sister to grade II-placed Distorted Passion.

Through this sale, the first session is tracking behind the first session of 2013. Forty-one yearlings have sold for an average of $258,780 and median of $250,000. Last year's first session average was $313,400 and a median of $272,500.
