Indiana Sire Lantana Mob Gets First Winner

Daddy Justice became the first reported winner for sire Lantana Mob   when he dominated a maiden special weight field by 3 1/4 lengths Aug. 1 at Indiana Grand Race Course (VIDEO).

The 11-10 favorite in a field of 12 going 5 1/2 furlongs, Daddy Justice was ridden to victory by Cheyanna Patrick for owner Cindy Patrick and trainer R. Gary Patrick. The bay gelding, making his second start, was bred in Indiana by Justice Farm and Greg Justice out of the Malibu Moon   mare Moon Beamy.

Daddy Justice was a $10,000 purchase from the Paramount Sales consignment at the the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall 2013 Yearling Sale last October.

His sire, Lantana Mob, was a multiple graded stakes winner for Vinery Stables and trainer Steve Asmussen who retired after the 2010 season with earnings of $420,411.

Lantana Mob, a son of Posse   out of the Copelan mare Lantana, stood in 2014 at Southern Indiana Equine in Austin, Ind., for a fee of $2,500.
