Luminance ran 5 furlongs in :57.39 in her maiden win.

A pair of 2-year-old fillies who eclipsed the Del Mar Polytrack mark for five furlongs in separate racing debuts July 20, appear headed for a showdown in the $300,000 Del Mar Debutante (gr. I) for their powerhouse barns Aug. 30.

In Sunday's fourth race, Tara's Tango covered five furlongs on the Polytrack in :57.40 (VIDEO), bettering the :57.83 mark of Bares Tripper on July 25, 2012. Four races later, Luminance was clocked in :57.39 for the same distance (VIDEO).

"Oh yeah, definitely the Debutante," trainer Bob Baffert said when asked about Luminance's immediate target.

A daughter of Tale of the Cat   owned by Kaleem Shah, Luminance was a $320,000 purchase at the Keeneland September sale. She is out of the Unbridled's Song mare Siren Serenade and a granddaughter of Versailles Treaty, a four-time grade I winner who was twice second in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I).

Tara's  Tango, a daughter of Unbridled's Song bred and owned by Stonestreet Stables, is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer.

"She looked very good. The Debutante's next," Hollendorfer assistant Dan Ward said.
