Lightly Raced Ask Me No Secrets Earns First Stakes Win at Oaklawn Park

Earl H. Shultz homebred Ask Me No Secrets set a moderate pace then kicked clear in the stretch to win Saturday's $200,000 Oaklawn Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) by 4 1/2 lengths. Under Mike Smith, the 4-year-old daughter of Seattle Slew completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.56 on a fast track.Red n'Gold chased Ask Me No Secrets around the Oaklawn oval and finished second, a head in front of even-money favorite Descapate. Caressing and Search Party completed the order of finish.A lightly raced David Hofmans trainee, Ask Me No Secrets is out of In On the Secret (by Secretariat), making her a half-sister of Royal Tryst, one of 12 horses currently entered in the March 23 Dubai World Cup (UAE-I). She is also from the same female family as Albert the Great, who is out of a daughter of Ask Me No Secrets' second dam, In My Cap (by Vice Regent).Ask Me No Secrets finished third in the La Canada Stakes (gr. I) last time out, a race which also produced last weekend's Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap (gr. I) winner Azeri. Ask Me No Secrets earned $120,000 for the win, her third in five career starts and first in a stakes race.Sent off as the 9-5 second choice, Ask Me No Secrets paid $5.60, $3.80, and $2.20.
