Trainer Mark Casse won the Queen's Plate at Woodbine July 6 with the filly Lexie Lou. Casse, who is based half the year in Canada and half in the U.S., discusses why it is easier for fillies to win The Queen's Plate--Canada's version of the Kentucky Derby--than it is for fillies to win the Derby. He also discusses the trend toward racetracks converting their artificial surfaces back to dirt and what effect that might have on his stable operation.
