Serena’s Song’s first foal -- Serena’s Tune, by Mr. Prospector -- won her debut race Sunday at Del Mar. Under Kent Desormeaux, the Neil Drysdale trainee, owned by James A. and Alice Sapara, led at every call en route to a seven-length victory over three other maiden juvenile fillies, completing the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:05.31. She was bred by Bob and Beverly Lewis and sold for $1-million at the 1999 Keeneland July yearling sale.

1995’s champion 3-year-old filly, Serena’s Song won 18 of 38 career races and retired with earnings of $3,283,388. Serena’s Song (Rahy—Imagining, by Northfields) won 11 grade I races, including the Mother Goose Stakes, the Hempstead Handicap, the Santa Anita Oaks, and the Hollywood Starlet. She beat males in both the Haskell Invitational (gr. I) and the Jim Beam Stakes (gr. II).

Serena’s Song also has a 1999 filly by Storm Cat and a 2000 colt by Deputy Minister. The Storm Cat filly was bought by Demi O’Byrne for $3.4-million at the 2000 Keeneland July yearling sale.
