Under the operation of a new five-member partnership, Vinery Sales is expanding the reach and scope of its consigning and bloodstock advisory services.
The newly formed group consists of former Vinery director of sales Derek MacKenzie, who will be the managing partner; Matt Bowling of Bowling Bloodstock; trainer Ken McPeek; Keith Crupper of Whispering Oaks Farm; and owner/breeder Perry Harrison.
"My clients who have been with me since I started with Vinery four years ago are still with me, and we expect to grow significantly," MacKenzie said. "Our new team will allows us to cover all the bases for the client. We have access to two farms, we have a trainer, someone who excels at claiming, and we'll sell primarily on the New York, Kentucky and Maryland circuits."
MacKenzie added that including McPeek gives the operation a broader reach because he's run both a racing stable and a bloodstock consulting business. Harrison, who lives in Texas, is the only partner not based in Central Kentucky and has a sharp eye for claiming—particularly fillies that would make valuable broodmare prospects.
"We think the team approach is better and look forward to continuing the tradition of selling horses that perform well on the racetrack," MacKenzie said.
