The Louisville Courier-Journal reported June 17 that Breeders' Cup has selected Keeneland in Lexington as host site for the 2015 World Championships, with the event returning to Santa Anita Park in 2016 and moving to Del Mar in 2017.

In response, Breeders' Cup issued the following statement: "It is Breeders' Cup policy not to discuss or comment on future host-site selection until an official announcement has been made. We look forward to providing news regarding future host site selection for the World Championships at that time."

The World Championships will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 1 this year at Santa Anita in California for a third consecutive year.

Keeneland previously expressed interest in hosting the Breeders' Cup and is in the process of replacing its artificial Polytrack main track surface with a conventional dirt surface that presumably would make it more attractive as a host site.

The Breeders' Cup board met June 11 to consider future host sites. The Courier-Journal reported several board members declined to discuss plans when called individually about the host-site announcement.
