When the Irish-based Goffs sales company conducts its London, England sale in association with QIPCO June 16, the offerings will include the first-ever foal by Frankel to be offered at public auction.
Both the colt, born March 18, and his dam, the unraced 13-year-old Rainbow Quest mare Crystal Gaze, are consigned by Tweenhills Farm Stud, as agent, as the final lot in the auction at London's Kensington Palace.
The mare and foal will be available to view between noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, in a specially prepared area at Kempton Park Racecourse. They will then return to Tweenhills before being paraded for their sale at The Orangery at Kensington Palace Monday.
Cyrstal Gaze has produced four winners, including group II victor and group-I placed Spirit Quartz and Caspian Prince, winner of the June 7 Investec Dash on the Epsom Derby card.
Crystal Gaze is believed to be in foal again to Frankel on an April 16 cover. The two-time Cartier Horse of the Year, Frankel was the world's top-ranked Thoroughbred when he retired undefeated in 13 starts in 2012. He stands at Khalid Abdullah's Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket, England, for £125,000.
"He is very correct with huge presence and great action," Tweenhills owner and manager David Redvers said of the colt. "He has what I would call a typical Frankel temperament in that he knows he is special and really owns the show. At this stage he looks like a speedy type, which is no surprise given his dam line".
"The Goffs London Sale in association with QIPCO is exciting for so many reasons and this world first is yet another," said Goffs chief executive Henry Beeby. "We are indebted to Qatar Bloodstock for offering this spectacular package on Monday and it should prove a fitting finale to an already sensational catalog."
The catalog features 2-year-olds and horses in training, including 20 with Royal Ascot entries. A lifetime breeding right to the stallion Invincible Spirit will also be offered for auction as the penultimate Lot.
Entry to The Orangery is by invitation only due to limited capacity at Kensington Palace, according to Goffs. Buyers can watch the sale live and bid from Kempton Park Racecourse.
