First Reported Winner for Afleet Express

Sire Afleet Express   was represented by his first winner when Jiggin Witit cruised to a front-running 1 1/4-length victory in a maiden special weight race June 7 at Presque Isle Downs (VIDEO).
 
Making her second career start with Arienne Cox at the reins for owner-trainer Wayne Rice, Jiggin Witit covered five furlongs on the all-weather track in :59.57. The 2-year-old New York-bred filly is out of the unraced Soto mare Wahoo Cat, a half sister to 2009 Commonwealth Stakes (gr. IIT) winner Eternal Star.
 
Rice bought Jiggin Witit for $2,500 out of the Dapple Stud consignment at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale. She was bred by Marty Zaretsky.
 
Afleet Express, a 7-year-old son of Afleet Alex  —Expanse, by Distant View, won the 2010 Travers Stakes (gr. I) and Pegasus Stakes (gr. II), and finished third in the Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II). He posted a 4-1-1 record from seven career starts over two seasons and earned $835,140. The dark bay or brown horse stands at Gainesway in Lexington for a 2014 fee of $5,000. He has 37 2-year-olds in his first crop.
