Ogden Phipps' Traditionally, one of three grade I winners from unbeaten champion Personal Ensign, has been retired from racing. The 5-year-old son of Mr. Prospector last ran in the Feb. 9 Donn Handicap (gr. I) at Gulfstream Park and finished unplaced. A deal is in the works to stand him in Ireland.
"I think he did something to his back right leg and said, 'Forget this,' after that," said trainer Claude R. (Shug) McGaughey III.
Bred by Phipps Stable, Traditionally scored his sole stakes win in last year's Oaklawn Handicap (gr. I). He retires with five wins from 20 starts and earnings of $495,660.
Personal Ensign (by Private Account) produced earlier grade I winners Miner's Mark and My Flag.
