Beulah Park Assets to Be Auctioned in June

Beulah Park, which ended live horse racing for good May 3, has partnered with Jennings Auction Group to sell the assets of its Grove City, Ohio, property.

Officials said the auction company will conduct three auctions that will conclude eight days apart at the end of June. There will be an online auction that closes June 20, followed by live onsite auctions June 27 and June 28.

The online auction, bidding for which will begin in early June, will offer about 1000 lots such as commercial food service and bar equipment, banquet and dining tables, glasses, dishes, flatware, stack chairs, office equipment and furnishings, high-capacity copiers, cash room counting equipment, 100s of televisions, metal and wood benches, hot tub saunas and steam room equipment from the jockeys' room, and janitorial items and supplies.

Specialty items during the online auction are the Beulah Park clubhouse neon sign, the complete set of numbered saddle towels, and most of the grandstand seating.

The first live onsite auction in the grandstand will feature memorabilia items such as the horse weathervanes, brass horse head bar rail, Toledo Scales from the jockeys' room, infield furlong markers, Beulah Park signs, two or four grandstand seats, numbered wrought iron betting window fronts, tote boards, artwork, jockey silks, and lettered awnings.

Also available will be stall dividers and bleachers from the paddock building, the stone pillars and fencing from the interior circle, the remaining red metal and green wood benches, stone benches, and metal and concrete picnic tables.

The second live onsite auction will take place in the maintenance shops and include barn items, vehicles, tools, track, and maintenance equipment.

Jennings Auction Group has prior experience with a Penn National Gaming Inc. property. It conducted a similar auction at the Penn National Race Course property in Grantville, Pa., in 2006, when PNGI eveled the facility and rebuilt it to be a racetrack casino.
