First Victory for Sire Majesticperfection

Majesticperfection   registered his first reported victory as a sire June 1 when 2-year-old colt It's Free scored an upset in a maiden special weight race at Gulfstream Park.

It's Free won the 4 1/2-furlong dash, the sixth race on the Sunday program, by a neck at odds of 26-1 with Abdiel Jaen aboard for trainer Roderick Rodriguez. Owned by Reynaldo Perez, the dark bay or brown colt was bred in Florida by Rick Sutherland out of the Grand Slam mare Princess Quinn.

The win came in the second start for It's Free, who was fourth in his debut at Calder Casino & Race Course May 18.

Majesticperfection was a five-time winner from six lifetime starts for Padua Stable and trainer Steve Asmussen, winning his final start in the 2010 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga Racecourse. The son of Harlan's Holiday suffered a condylar fracture in his right foreleg during a workout at Saratoga a short time later and was retired from racing after undergoing surgery.

In 2014, 8-year-old Majesticperfection stands at Airdrie Stud in Midway, Ky., for $10,000.
