Jockey Rene Douglas earned career victory 2,000 in the third race Sunday at Calder Race Course. Douglas won the race aboard Multiplicity, who dueled for the early lead before drawing off to a 6 1/4-length victory in the one-mile maiden race for 2-year-old fillies.
Douglas, 33, was born in Panama and came to the United States in 1983. He won the jockey title at Calder in 1993 and won the 1996 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) aboard Editor's Note.
Multiplicity is trained by Bill Kaplan for owners Ione and Herb Elkins. Douglas rode Seacliff to a sweep of the Florida Stallion Stakes in 1995 for these same connections.
