Silver City Sires First Winner in Texas

Stakes winner Silver City   was represented by his first winner as a stallion when his 2-year-old daughter Promise Me Silver won the third race at Lone Star Park in her career debut May 11 (VIDEO).

Trained by Bret Calhoun for owner/breeder Robert Luttrell, Promise Me Silver took the lead in upper stretch of the 4 1/2-furlong dirt contest after going three wide on the turn, and then powered away to a 6 3/4 length victory under jockey Clifton Berry.

Bred in Texas, Promise Me Silver is out of the Macho Uno   mare Uno Mas Promesa.

Silver City, a son of Unbridled's SongProposal, by Mt. Livermore, won the 2009 Dixieland Stakes at Oaklawn Park and ran second in that year's Southwest Stakes (gr. III) behind Old Fashioned  . He retired from racing with a record of 4-1-1 from eight starts and earnings of $181,930.

Silver City stands for $2,000 at the late Clarence Scharbauer Jr.'s Valor Farm near Pilot Point, Texas.
