William Inglis & Son's March mixed sale was held at Oaklands Junction Sunday in Australia, with 202 horses selling for a gross of $1,656,450 (Australian funds) and an average price of $8,200.
The top price of $65,000 was brought by Alcestis, a 6-year-old mare by Meticulous out of one of Victoria's most commercial families. She was consigned by Mrs. E. L. Clooney with a Dangerous colt at foot and in foal to Rustic Amber. Northern Lodge of Victoria bought the package.
Said William Inglis & Son associate director Peter Heagney: "Perfect weather and a strong catalogue drew a large crowd, resulting in an extremely high clearance rate of 94%, with many prices exceeding vendor expectations. This was one of the strongest mixed sales conducted in many years."
