The decision to enter Steve Asmussen-trained Lake Lady in Saturday's Fair Grounds Oaks rather than the same day's Honeybee Stakes (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park left the connections of Arkansas-based sophomore fillies breathing a sigh of relief. After all, Asmussen has saddled the last three Honeybee winners and four of the last five. He won't have a starter in this year's renewal of the $75,000 race for 3-year-old fillies, for which 116-pound highweight Cozy Susie drew the rail.
Barnett Stables' Cozy Susie has won two of six career starts and finished third last month at Oaklawn while making her 2002 debut. The chestnut daughter of Cozzene, though, has yet to win on a dirt track.
Sarah Jade, a two-time winner at the meet, Dixie Belle Stakes winner Bedanken, and recent maiden winner Chirimoya will likely gather support in the wagering.
The field for 1 1/16-mile Honeybee will consist of:
1 -- Cozy Susie, James Lopez, 116
2 -- Chirimoya, Terry Thompson, 114
3 -- Sarah Jade, Christopher Emigh, 114
4 -- Atsa Pretty Muffin, Anthony Lovato, 114
5 -- Bedanken, Donald Pettinger, 114
6 -- Jeanie Sue, Justin Vitek, 112
