Four veteran Kentucky horsemen have formed a new company that will consign horses to major Thoroughbred auctions. The partners in Four Star Sales are John T. L. Jones Jr., Dan Kenny, David Greathouse, and Kerry Cauthen.
Cauthen is the managing partner for the new venture and will continue to serve as legal counsel for Jones' farm, Walmac International, near Lexington. Four Star will offer its first consignment of yearlings at the Keeneland July select yearling sale. The company also plans to participate in all the other major Kentucky auctions as well as the Saratoga select yearling sale and the select Canadian yearling sale at Woodbine.
"The trend in the sales end of our industry is consolidation," Kenny said. "The combination of our respective sales staffs and offices will allow each partner more time to devote to personalized service. There is a critical mass of knowledge, experiences, and resources that is necessary to compete at the top level. This partnership brings together all those ingredients. We are committed to offering our new and existing clients an expanded level of services."
Four Star's offices will be temporarily located at Walmac International until new offices are ready. Calls may be directed to the farm at 859-299-0473
"Each partner will be active in our consignments, and with our collective experience, I believe we will be a successful team," Cauthen said.
