Chicago sports legends and Sue the dinosaur will play key roles in events surrounding the Oct. 26 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Arlington Park.
While officials continue to work out details such as seating, availability of general admission and the distance of the 2-year-old races, they announced Thursday the key preliminary events will be at Mike Ditka's restaurant, Haray Caray's restaurant, and the Field Museum, noted as home to the fossilized bones of Sue the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Harry Caray's restaurant, named for the late Cardinals, Athletics, White Sox and Cubs baseball broadcaster, will be the site of the Oct. 17 Breeders' Cup Pre-Entry/Welcome Breakfast, announcing pre-entered horses. Mike Ditka's restaurant, named for the Chicago Bears legend, will host the Media Day luncheon on Oct. 22.
The Breeders' Cup Press Party, an annual social/networking function, will grace the Field Museum on Lake Shore Drive on Thursday evening, Oct. 24. The museum is one of the world's most noted natural history museums.
