Champion juvenile male Midshipman   was represented by his first winner as a stallion when his 2-year-old son Sunny Yellow won the second race at Hipodromo De Las Americas in Mexico March 29.

Trained by Simon Misrahi for Cuadra Colibri, Sunny Yellow won the 4 1/2-furlong maiden event in his career debut by a head over Zip Zapper.

Sunny Yellow, who is out of the Woodman mare Crystal Woods, was bred in Kentucky by Darley and Westwind Farm. The chestnut colt was a $6,000 purchase at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale.

Midshipman, a son of Unbridled's SongFleet Lady, by Avenue of Flags, earned his Eclipse Award by virtue of scores in the 2008 Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and Del Mar Futurity (gr. I), and a runner-up finish in the Norfolk Stakes (gr. I). He retired from racing with a record of 5-1-1 from eight starts, and earnings of $1,584,600.

Midshipman stands for $7,500 at Darley near Lexington.
