Trainer Kenny McPeek said Monday that Risen Star winner Repent will ship back to Fair Grounds on Thursday for Sunday's Louisiana Derby. Jerry Bailey will be ride the colt for the first time, having replaced regular rider Tony D'Amico.McPeek said the son of Louis Quatorze is scheduled to have his final prep for the 1 1/16-mile race on Tuesday. Bailey, as he was in his :59 4/5 work last week, will be aboard."He's doing great," McPeek said. "After Bailey worked him last week, he said, 'Just keep doing what you're doing.'"Repent's toughest challengers in the Louisiana Derby look to be the two colts he defeated in the Risen Star, Bob's Image and Easyfromthegitgo. French Assault, who raced closer to the pace than normal, should run an improved race on Saturday if allowed to sit back and make one run. Also possible for the race is Arlington-Washington Futurity winner Publication, who would be making his first start since finishing fifth in the Hollywood Futurity.
