Gary Kelley, the official artist for the 128th Kentucky Derby, will display original, equine themed oils, pastels, and drawings at the Kentucky Derby Museum April 14 through July 7. The pieces on display may be purchased. Kelley's work with vibrant oils and subtle pastels have been featured in
Entertainment Weekly,
Atlantic Monthly,
The New Yorker,
Time,
Playboy, and
Rolling Stone among others. His has also done theme work for Super Bowls XXIV and XXXIII and the NBA All-Star Game. Kelley, a Cedar Falls, Iowa resident, will attend an invitation-only opening reception on April 14th at the Kentucky Derby Museum and will return to the museum on May 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to sign posters for the public. The Derby museum displayed is sponsored in part by the Louisville Graphic Design Association.
