Zippy Chippy extended his string of futility to 93 races Thursday night at Penn National, finishing eight in a five-furlong maiden special weight race.

In his first start as an 11-year-old in late January, Zippy Chippy was beaten by 32 3/4 lengths when last of seven in a six-furlong race on a "good" track at Penn National. With one less furlong during which to drop back Thursday, Zippy Chippy turned in an improved performance, finishing eight lengths closer to the winner and beating one horse, Ferby's Fire, by a half-length.

Three to Tango, the 3-year-old even-money favorite, rated behind the early leaders then poured it on in the stretch to win by 9 1/2 lengths. John Charles Zimmerman trains the Maryland-bred son of Dover Ridge for owner David G. Davies. Jodi and Jim Hawley bred the winner, who completed the five furlongs in 1:00.49 on a fast track under jockey Emilio Flores. (Chart, Equibase)
