Hidden Expression, a 7-year-old stakes-winning daughter of Yonaguska, was purchased by Gainesway for $360,000 to top the early portion of the Fasig-Tipton winter mixed sale's second session Feb. 10.

At the time she went through the ring, Hidden Expression was the new sale-topper at the two-day auction near Lexington.

Consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Rick Abbott's Charlton, as agent for the complete dispersal of the Estate of Anne F. Thorington, Hidden Expression won the Colleen Stakes and has produced two foals, including Moonlit Bay. A 2-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon  , Moonlit Bay was purchased by Live Oak Plantation for $350,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September yearling sale.

Hidden Expression was produced from the stakes-placed Lord Carson mare The Hess Express, and is a half sister to three stakes winners, including grade I winner Bullsbay  .

"She's everything you want in a future top broodmare," Gainesway general manager Neil Howard said of Hidden Expression, noting the mare's deep pedigree and potential with Moonlit Bay. "She is something we thought could be one of the top broodmares in the future."

Howard said the 2014 mating plan for Hidden Expression had not been made, but that she would possibly be bred to Gainesway's Tapit  .
