Street Cry Returns for Final Round of Maktoum Challenge
Godolphin's Street Cry returns from a four-month break to run in the third round of the Maktoum Challenge Thursday night at Nad Al Sheba in Dubai.The 4-year-old son of Machiavellian last raced at Aqueduct in October, finishing second to Evening Attire in the Discovery Handicap (gr. III). The second-place finish continued a trend for Street Cry, who has been the runner up in five of eight career races. One of Street Cry's two career wins, however, came at Nad Al Sheba last year when he Noverre by two lengths following a similar layoff. Frankie Dettori, Godolphin's top jockey, will be in the irons.Godolphin also enters State Shinto in the 1 1/4-mile, group III race on the main track. State Shinto also participated in the first two rounds of the three-race Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) prep series, finishing sixth in round one and third in round two while finishing eight or more lengths behind the winner in both races. The 6-year-old son of Pleasant Colony is a group II winner in France and will be ridden by Ted Durcan.Royal Tryst also participated in the first two rounds of the series and finished ahead of State Shinto on both occasions, including a second-place finish in the second round. The J. D. Sadler-trained chestnut son of Kingmambo has yet to win a stakes race. Earl H. Shultz bred the lightly raced 5-year-old in Kentucky.Others in the race are Musha Merr, Goombayland, Resplendent Star, and Black Ledger.
