Juvenile filly champion Chilukki led at every call on the way to a 1 1/4-length victory in a 6 1/2-furlong allowance race for 3-year-old fillies at Saratoga Friday. Over a fast track, the daughter of Cherokee Run -- out of the Damascus mare Song of Syria -- completed the distance in 1:15.09. Dat You Miz Blue finished second, followed by Katz Me If You Can, C'Est L' Amour, and Dr Margaret.
Chilukki gained a length advantage over Katz Me If You Can after a quarter-mile run in :22.30. The latter edged closer after a half-mile in a fast :44.09 before Chilukki drew away, running six furlongs in 1:08.82 with Dat You Miz Blue 1 1/2 lengths back in second. Chilukki held Dat You Miz Blue at bay in the final yards to ensure the victory.
Chilukki is trained by Bob Baffert for Stonerside Stable and was ridden by Jerry Bailey. The win is her eighth from 12 career starts and her second win on the year. The odds-on favorite, Chilukki returned $3.10 for the win and led an exacta, completed by the second wagering choice, worth $6.40. (Chart, Equibase
